Drama and Creative Work Produced by the Children
Drama
The children worked on a drama about aspects of life for children in Whitehawk during the Second World War, including air raids and evacuation.
The children then put on a 'Show' for family members and the Home Front Veterans. See video highlights of the show.
Poems
and Letters
The children wrote poems and letters about life on the home-front in the second world war. Many of them wrote about what it would have been like to have been in the air raid shelter at the school during a bomb attack.
See examples of writing and art work by the children and watch film clips of some of the children reading out their poems and letters.
Creative Work
In groups, the class worked on creating the front
page of a local newspaper, designing a museum exhibition or a creating
a plan for a TV documentary. The children also created drawings and art
work as well as adding illustrations to their written work. View
the gallery of the children's work.
