The UK's moving image archive collections contain moving image material
dating from the birth of film in 1895 to the present day and cover a wide
range of subjects relating to lives and interests of British people and
the history and landscape of Britain itself. The kinds of films you can
expect to find in the public sector moving image archives, and in the
regional collections in particular, often includes material that captures
aspects of Britain's social history rarely found in other sources. The
themes and the related films have been selected for this guide in co-operation
with the participating archives.
