Drama and entertainment

British film and television has always provided a vehicle for popular entertainment and storytelling. From films made in 1895 to modern day television programmes and feature films, drama and entertainment has been a fundamental element in our experience of the moving image. The national archives hold large collections of this material, all of which is of great relevance and importance to the UK's film and cultural history. Many of the regional moving image archives also hold significant collections of amateur fiction film, amongst other fiction and entertainment material.
