The Archive

Wessex Film and Sound Archive was established in 1988 by Hampshire Archives Trust and is administered by Hampshire County Council. The archive aims to collect and preserve the film and sound heritage of the Wessex region and to make its collections available to those who need to use them. The archive's holdings cover central southern England and specifically, Hampshire, East Dorset, Berkshire and the Isle of Wight. The archive has close links with the South East Film and Video Archive and The South West Film & Television Archive, which has recently taken over responsibility for Dorset and Wiltshire regions. The archive is based in Hampshire Record Office at Winchester.
