The archive collects student video productions from academic institutions in the area, and has received video tapes from the Wessex TV Consortium.

The archive has good links with the media studies department of King Alfred's College, Winchester. The archive also has links with Portsmouth University through its Social History studies, art and design college and its library. There are also links through oral history work with the Winchester school of art and design, part of Southampton University.

The archive is part of the Oral History Society Network in the South of England which has representatives at Bournemouth University and University College Chichester.

The archive also stores nitrate film on behalf of the Southampton University archive as well as animation films from the Surrey Institute.
