Access and Facilities:

The Archive welcomes enquiries from individual academics, students and educational establishments as well as writers and artists who wish to use film or video for use in projects or research.

  • Catalogue - At present around one third of the archive’s holdings are currently catalogued on the archive’s database.
  • Searching - Users can phone the archive and speak to any member of staff about their enquiry. The archive has research desks and it is possible to conduct independent research on holdings at the archive's premises. However, users are recommended to call and discuss their requirements over the phone in the first instance. Catalogue records can be then be e-mailed or posted to enquirers. Appointments are necessary for research of the collection on site.
  • Viewing - The archive has viewing areas available on site and can show material to groups at other premises. Appointments are necessary to view any material on site, however, VHS viewing copies can be often sent out on request.
  • Charges - A small charge may be made where any costs are incurred by the archive, such as sending out VHS tapes or for viewing a number of Beta tapes. Research and on sight viewing however is normally free for academic users.
