  • Searching - The archive has developed a detailed searchable online catalogue from its own website which includes full descriptions and shot listing for all accessible archive material. Academic users can also contact the archive by post, fax or via e-mail with their request. The archive staff can search the catalogue database on behalf of users making research requests and can provide printouts of relevant catalogue entries.

The Scottish Screen Archive has facilities for researchers to view VHS and film copies of material. These facilities are available by appointment only, please contact the archive for further details. A small collection of VHS tapes may be loaned to users for consultation off the premises, details of charges for processing and usage are also available upon request. Remote Access to moving images

In addition to on-site access, selections from the archive's collection are available to search and view at a number of internet sites:

  • The SCRAN website provides a sample of some 400 extracts of films from the Scottish Screen Archive.
