Access and Facilities:

The Northern Region Film and Television Archive provides access to its collections for academics, students and educational institutions as well as businesses, media agencies community groups, libraries, museums, record offices, schools and members of the public.

  • Searching - A selection of the archive's holdings can be searched online at http://www.nrfta.org.uk/explore.html. Alternatively, enquirers are asked to write, fax or e-mail their research request to the archive staff. A search of archive holdings can then be conducted by the archivist and information provided to the enquirer about any holdings relevant to their request.

  • Viewing -Students and researchers are welcome to visit the archive to view the collections free of charge but bookings should be made in advance. 48 hours notice is the minimum amount of time required in order to acclimatise and prepare film for viewing. The archive also hosts regular films shows around the region.

  • Charges - For academic enquiries, viewing of film or video material on the archive premises is free of charge. Charges are made for copying and sending out viewing copies of requested material.
